On 6 July 2019 The Who played London's Wembley Stadium for the first time in forty years. The concert was the only UK date of their Moving On tour and the performance saw the band accompanied by an orchestra of over 50 pieces performing classics from Quadrophenia , Tommy , Who's Next , Who Are You and WHO , their latest album thirteen years after the previous Endless Wire.
Joining The Who with an orchestra in concert has always been Roger Daltrey's wish: “the fact that it's the Who with an orchestra won't compromise the way Pete and I have communicated our music”. Pete Townshend said: “Roger called that tour Moving On! I love it. It's what we both want to do. Go ahead, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways.
